Payment-event retry review
Workflow design — not yet built
Make failed, duplicate, and uncertain payment-event processing visible for operator review.
The workflow
- Buyer problem
- A repeated event or an uncertain downstream outcome can lead to an unsafe retry.
- Intended users
- Operations and integration teams working with payment-event processing.
- Inputs
- Fictional Stripe invoice-payment event snapshots, stable event identity, and mocked receipt and processing outcomes.
- Intended steps
- Validate the event’s required fields.
- Simulate an inbox receipt and check for a duplicate.
- Preview bounded processing attempts and failure categorization.
- Route exhausted or uncertain outcomes to operator review or reconciliation.
- Intended output
- An intended completion, duplicate, retry, or unresolved-event review preview.
- Human review
- An operator investigates failed events and decides on replay. An uncertain write outcome needs reconciliation before another attempt.
- Limitations
- Sender signatures, raw request handling, durable receipt storage, concurrent worker ownership, and downstream delivery are unverified. Mock processing does not demonstrate a real HTTP acknowledgment or guaranteed delivery.
